“The Drop”

Issue #11: Summer Squash is Here

Off Season?

Junior squash has become far more of a year-round sport than it used to be. Summer once meant time away from the courts, multi-sport camps, or, for only the highest-level players, international training trips to places like Egypt and events like the Dutch Junior Open or Pioneer Junior Open. Today, summer squash is much more mainstream, with more training and tournament opportunities available in the U.S. and fewer players needing to go abroad to stay sharp. The junior season no longer simply starts in September and ends with Nationals in March; the calendar now includes several summer tournaments, including a Super JCT in Stamford this June. Therefore, summer has become an important window for training, competing, and building momentum, especially for high school players preparing for the college recruiting process, which picks up in the fall.

Best 2 out of 3 Tournaments

This one is for the tournament directors: Club Locker now supports best-of-3 match formats in the scoring app. To use the format, select Best of 3 as the match format when setting up your tournament, before generating draws. From there, the scoring app will track scores game by game and automatically close the match once a player wins two games.

Club Locker subscribers will also be able to view their best-of-3 match insights directly in the Club Locker app.
