Issue #13: Making History

Most Attended Match In US History

00874_MTB_ShowdownSymphony_2026-06-11

One of the greatest nights in US Squash history. 1,200 fans packed Symphony Hall in Boston as Showdown V took the stage for the largest attended squash session in US history. Egypt featured superstars Ali Farag and Nour El Sherbini, coached by Wael El Hindi, but Team World, coached by former World No. 1 Thierry Lincou, took the honors as English nationals Gina Kennedy took a game from El Sherbini and Mohamed El Shorbagy blanked Farag 3-0 in an electrifying bout.

Biggest NSL Season Yet

The National Squash League Finals delivered a thrilling weekend of team squash, with both championships coming down to the league’s signature Overtime Shootout.

On the men’s side, the Philadelphia Lightning, Newport Dragons, Chicago Grizzlies, and Greenwich Panthers battled through a competitive playoff field, while the women’s bracket featured the DC Inferno, SONO Sharks, Seattle Freeze, and New York Queens.

In the end, both finals were decided by a single sudden-death point. The Chicago Grizzlies, capping off an amazing comeback from winless in their first two NSL seasons to undefeated in 2026, edged out the Greenwich Panthers to win the men’s championship, while the DC Inferno outlasted the New York Queens to claim the women’s title.

With two trophies decided by the narrowest of margins, the NSL Finals showed exactly why team squash, and this format, is so exciting.
